# Iternal Renames AI to Super Intelligence (SI): Here’s Why

> Iternal backs Super Intelligence (SI), the term President Trump and U.S. federal agencies now use for AI, with measured evidence and every objection answered.

Iternal Technologies supports Executive Order 14434 and President Trump’s declaration that this
technology is **Super Intelligence (SI), formerly called artificial intelligence (AI)**.
“Artificial” described how this technology was built; it never described what
today’s systems can do. Measured against the average human baseline, the leading systems now
outperform it — on certified competition results, graduate-level science exams, and
abstract-reasoning tests. There is nothing artificial about results that real.

**In short:** Iternal backs the Super Intelligence (SI) name because it describes
capability instead of origin, because the measured evidence for that capability is strong and dated,
because the federal government and early market movers are already using it, and because every
objection raised against it has a direct, respectful answer. Iternal keeps every product name, URL,
and page title exactly as it is, because “AI” is still the term most of its customers
use.

The Case for Super Intelligence

## Why Iternal Supports the Name Super Intelligence

President Trump signed Executive Order 14434, “Inaugurating the Era of Super
Intelligence,” on September 29, 2026. Iternal supports it, and supports the name, for four
reasons that each stand on their own evidence: the name describes capability instead of origin; the
measured performance of today’s leading systems already exceeds the human norm; a clear, shared
name helps buyers and builders act with confidence; and every objection raised against the name has a
direct answer.

### 1. The Name Describes What It Does

“Artificial intelligence” was coined in a research proposal dated August 31, 1955, for a
two-month summer study at Dartmouth College — seven decades before any of today’s measured
results existed
(Source: ["A Proposal for the Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence," AI Magazine Vol. 27 No. 4, 2006](https://ojs.aaai.org/index.php/aimagazine/article/view/1904)).
In Iternal’s reading, the name described a method — an attempt to simulate intelligence
— not a result. President Trump made the case for a new name in public remarks:

> “I don’t like anything that’s artificial. So could we straighten that out? Please? We should change the name. I actually mean that.”
> — [President Trump, "Winning the AI Race" summit, July 23, 2025](https://www.coloradopolitics.com/2025/07/23/trump-floats-ai-name-change-at-technology-summit-eefbde02-902c-529b-91e3-8765ffa1c88a/)

Jeff Bezos has made the same point about the word itself, days after the order was signed:

> “I do like SI, because “artificial” is not a very flattering thing. Like, nobody wants an artificial sweetener, artificial flavoring.”
> — [Jeff Bezos, Fox News Special Report, October 7, 2026](https://www.salon.com/2026/10/08/tech-leaders-embrace-trumps-super-intelligence-as-he-calls-critics-the-enemy/)

Bezos added: “Artificial sort of means fake.”

Iternal agrees, and the published record backs it up. These are not projections or demos:

- In a study of 5,172 customer-support agents, generative AI raised issues resolved per hour by 15%
on average, and by about 30% for less-skilled and less-experienced agents
(Source: [Brynjolfsson, Li & Raymond, "Generative AI at Work," Quarterly Journal of Economics, 2025](https://doi.org/10.1093/qje/qjae044)).
- In a Harvard Business School/BCG field experiment with 758 consultants, on tasks inside the
AI’s capability frontier, those using AI completed 12.2% more tasks, finished 25.1% faster,
and produced work rated 40% higher in quality — the
largest gain, 43%, went to consultants who started out below average
(Source: [HBS Working Knowledge, "Humans vs. Machines," 2023](https://www.library.hbs.edu/working-knowledge/humans-vs-machines-untangling-the-tasks-ai-can-and-cant-handle)) (Source: [Dell'Acqua et al., HBS Working Paper 24-013, SSRN](https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4573321)).
- In a controlled trial of 95 professional developers building an HTTP server, those using GitHub
Copilot finished 55.8% faster than the control group
(Source: [Peng, Kalliamvakou, Cihon & Demirer, arXiv:2302.06590, 2023](https://arxiv.org/abs/2302.06590)).
- In a preregistered experiment with 453 college-educated professionals published in Science,
ChatGPT cut average task time by 40% and raised output quality by 18%
(Source: [Noy & Zhang, Science 381(6654), 2023](https://doi.org/10.1126/science.adh2586)).
- Across a 97-country enterprise survey of 1,719 participants, 80% say AI improved their individual
productivity
(Source: [McKinsey & Company, "The state of AI in 2026," 2026](https://www.mckinsey.com/capabilities/quantumblack/our-insights/the-state-of-ai)).

That is not imitation. Four of these are measured outcomes from field studies and experiments — two published
in refereed journals, two released as working papers by the researchers who ran them — and the
fifth is what 1,719 enterprise respondents report about their own work.

### 2. Measured Performance Exceeds the Human Norm

The strongest results are independently certified or leaderboard-verified:

- At the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad, an advanced version of Google DeepMind’s
Gemini Deep Think was among the inaugural cohort of AI systems officially graded and certified by
IMO coordinators, earning a gold-medal score of 35 of a possible 42 points. That year, 72 of 630
human contestants earned gold
(Source: [Google DeepMind blog, July 21, 2025; imo-official.org](https://deepmind.google/blog/advanced-version-of-gemini-with-deep-think-officially-achieves-gold-medal-standard-at-the-international-mathematical-olympiad/)).
- At the 2025 ICPC World Finals, OpenAI’s reasoning system solved all 12 of 12 problems; the
best human team solved 11
(Source: [Simon Willison, quoting OpenAI's Mostafa Rohaninejad, September 17, 2025](https://simonwillison.net/2025/Sep/17/icpc/)).
Google DeepMind’s Gemini 2.5 Deep Think solved 10 of 12 at gold-medal level, including a
problem no university team at the World Finals solved
(Source: [Google DeepMind blog, September 17, 2025](https://deepmind.google/blog/gemini-achieves-gold-medal-level-at-the-international-collegiate-programming-contest-world-finals/)).
- On GPQA Diamond, 198 graduate-level science questions where the original expert validators scored
81.3% (a figure the paper itself says is skewed upward by how the questions were selected)
(Source: [Rein et al., arXiv:2311.12022, 2023](https://arxiv.org/abs/2311.12022)), today’s
leading model scores 96.3%
(Source: [Artificial Analysis leaderboard, accessed October 11, 2026](https://artificialanalysis.ai/evaluations/gpqa-diamond)).
- On ARC-AGI-2, an abstract-reasoning benchmark where the ARC Prize Foundation measured the average
human test-taker at 60%
(Source: [ARC Prize blog, March 24, 2025](https://arcprize.org/blog/announcing-arc-agi-2-and-arc-prize-2025))
(66% of attempted test pairs in its later paper
(Source: [arXiv:2505.11831](https://arxiv.org/abs/2505.11831))), the leading model now scores
95.0% on the Foundation’s own leaderboard; a panel of humans collectively solves 100% of tasks
(Source: [arcprize.org/leaderboard, accessed October 11, 2026](https://arcprize.org/leaderboard)).

IQ tests were built to measure people, so they are a second, dated layer of evidence — and they
point the same way. IQ tests are normed so the average person scores 100, with a standard deviation of
15. A score of 140 sits at roughly the top 0.4% of the human population — about 1 person in 261.
A score of 160 is about 1 in 31,574
(Source: [Standard-normal arithmetic on the Mensa Norway scale, test.mensa.no](https://test.mensa.no/)).
On TrackingAI.org’s live weekly tracker, updated October 11, 2026, the top models average
**147** on the public Mensa Norway test — clear of the 140 threshold entirely
— and 135 on TrackingAI’s private Offline Test, whose questions are never published and
whose own ceiling is about 136
(Source: [trackingai.org, live table, October 11, 2026](https://www.trackingai.org/home)).
In late September 2026, two models reached the public test’s maximum possible score of 151, a
dated peak rather than the current average
(Source: [KuCoin News/MarsBit, September 28, 2026](https://www.kucoin.com/news/flash/ai-achieves-151-on-mensa-norway-iq-test-surpassing-99-97-of-humans)).

If the average human scores 100, and leading systems average 147 on the public Mensa Norway test while
earning certified gold-medal scores and outscoring the expert baseline on graduate-level science, that
is not a simulation of intelligence. It is Super Intelligence, measured.

### 3. A Clear Name Helps Buyers and Builders

The order itself makes the case plainly. Executive Order 14434, Section 1, states:

> “The extraordinary technologies being pioneered by American innovators far exceed what was envisioned when the term “Artificial Intelligence” first came into use… As these capabilities continue to improve, they increasingly represent not merely artificial intelligence, but a new era of Super Intelligence.”
> — [Executive Order 14434, Sec. 1](https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2026-20321)

Section 2(a) makes it operative: “To the maximum extent permitted by law, executive departments
and agencies… shall use ‘Super Intelligence’ and ‘SI’ in place of
‘Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘AI’ in official correspondence, public
communications, websites, reports, policy documents, and other non-statutory documents”
(Source: [EO 14434, Sec. 2(a), Federal Register 91 FR 63129](https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2026-20321)).
One federal government, one term, across every agency — that consistency is itself valuable to
anyone who buys or builds this technology.

The market is already moving with it. Salesforce confirmed a rename on October 9, 2026, with CEO Marc
Benioff writing on X: “The era of Super Intelligence is here. AIForce is officially
SIForce”
(Source: [Marc Benioff via Digg, October 9, 2026](https://digg.com/tech/vuptndhq)).
Five days earlier, Elon Musk pledged the same move at SpaceX, replying “Yes, we will make that
change” when asked whether SpaceXAI would become SpaceXSI, and adding, “SpaceX is a super
intelligence company.”
(Source: [Reuters via The Star, October 5, 2026](https://www.thestar.com.my/tech/tech-news/2026/10/05/musk-says-he-will-rename-spacexai-to-spacexsi))
As of October 11, 2026, Musk’s pledge had not yet been carried out
(Source: [CNN, Zachary B. Wolf, October 11, 2026](https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/trump-really-wants-super-intelligence-160044063.html)).
On the same day the order was signed, six technology leaders — Sundar Pichai, Dario Amodei, Mark
Zuckerberg, Greg Brockman, Jensen Huang, and Elon Musk — signed the White House Accord on Super
Intelligence, a voluntary safety commitment, not a rename, that shows how seriously the industry’s
own leadership now takes the capability the name describes
(Source: [MercoPress, September 30, 2026](https://en.mercopress.com/2026/09/30/trump-and-six-tech-companies-sign-a-voluntary-artificial-intelligence-safety-accord)).
Iternal is choosing to lead alongside the federal government and these early movers, not to wait and
see where the term lands.

### 4. The Objections, Answered

**Most people still say “AI.”** YouGov surveyed 21,449 U.S. adults on
September 28, 2026: 53% said “artificial intelligence” is the better name, 9% said
“super intelligence,” 23% had no preference, and 15% were not sure
(Source: [YouGov, September 28, 2026](https://yougov.com/en-us/daily-results/20260928-5a780-1)).
“Artificial intelligence” at 53% is a real majority, not a rounding error — and 47%
did not choose it. That gap is exactly why Iternal writes “Super Intelligence (SI), formerly
called artificial intelligence (AI)” on first mention: it is the reason to build a bridge while
leading, not a reason to wait.

**“It isn’t superintelligence yet” answers a different question than the one
the order asks.** Philosopher Nick Bostrom defines superintelligence (ASI) as “any
intellect that greatly exceeds the cognitive performance of humans in virtually all domains of
interest”
(Source: [Bostrom, Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies, 2014, via Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superintelligence)).
Bostrom has said “it’s a little bit of a stretch, maybe, to call my spam filter a
superintelligence” — while also saying “it’s not up to me to decide how English
language should be used”
(Source: [CNN, Zachary B. Wolf, October 11, 2026](https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/trump-really-wants-super-intelligence-160044063.html)).
He is right that his bar is higher than what exists today — and the order never claims otherwise.
Executive Order 14434, Section 3(a), defines “Super Intelligence” and “SI” as
“the technologies and systems encompassed by the term ‘artificial intelligence’ as
defined in section 9401(3) of title 15, United States Code”
(Source: [EO 14434, Sec. 3(a)](https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2026-20321)) —
the existing, capability-based statutory definition
(Source: [15 U.S.C. § 9401(3), Cornell LII](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/9401)),
not Bostrom’s theoretical threshold. SI as named today is the capability already in production
use. ASI is Bostrom’s higher, hypothetical bar. That distinction answers the objection.

**California has directed its own agencies to keep using “AI.”** Executive
Order N-10-26, signed by Governor Newsom on September 30, 2026, states: “All agencies and
departments subject to my authority shall refer to Artificial Intelligence and AI as ‘Artificial
Intelligence’ and ‘AI,’ notwithstanding any rebranded or different terminology used
by the federal government, unless inconsistent with the law”
(Source: [California EO N-10-26, signed PDF](https://www.gov.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/SIGNED_EO-N-10-26_9.30.26.pdf)).
That is California’s own choice for its own agencies. It does not change the measured evidence
above, which is why Iternal makes its case on the merits.

**Congress is considering a bill aimed at a different, higher bar.** The Ban Artificial
Superintelligence Act of 2026 (H.R. 10538), introduced in the House by Rep. Greg Casar, with Sen.
Bernie Sanders leading the Senate effort, defines “Artificial Superintelligence” as a
system that “exhibits or can easily be modified to exhibit capabilities that match or exceed
human cognitive performance… across a broad range of domains,” or one with
“sufficient capabilities to plan and execute the disempowerment of humanity”
(Source: [Sponsors' release summary, sanders.senate.gov](https://www.sanders.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/Ban-Artificial-Superintelligence-Act-Release-Summary.pdf)).
The bill writes its own definition for a category of system it would prohibit. EO 14434 Section 3(a)
does a different job: it renames the existing statutory AI definition. The two texts define different
things for different purposes.

**OpenAI has said it has no plans to rename itself.** On POLITICO’s “Decoded”
podcast (aired October 5, 2026), OpenAI signaled no plans to change its name to OpenSI
(Source: [CNN, Zachary B. Wolf, October 11, 2026](https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/trump-really-wants-super-intelligence-160044063.html)).
In the same interview, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told the podcast that “super intelligence” may be a better term
than “artificial intelligence,” though it “still sort of understates the magnitude of
what I think is happening,” and he questioned whether it sounds “obviously less scary”
than artificial intelligence. That is an argument that the new name says too little, not that the old
one says more: if “Super Intelligence” understates the capability, “artificial”
understates it further. A company’s choice about its own name does not change what the
technology measurably does, and that measured record is the ground Iternal argues on.

**None of this is a private legal requirement, and Iternal is not treating it as one.**
Executive Order 14434 binds federal agencies: Section 2(b) states that nothing in the order
“requires the alteration of previously issued regulations, Presidential actions, contracts,
grants, or other historical documents,” and Section 4(c) states the order creates no right or
benefit “enforceable at law or in equity by any party”
(Source: [EO 14434, Secs. 2(b) and 4(c)](https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2026-20321)).
Iternal is adopting “Super Intelligence” because the argument above holds up, not because
any law requires it of a private company. Leadership, not compliance, is the point.

## What’s Actually Changing on iternal.ai

Backing the Super Intelligence name is not a slogan — it shows up as four concrete changes live
on iternal.ai today:

- A new Super Intelligence hub at [/super-intelligence](https://iternal.ai/super-intelligence), explaining
the terminology shift, the executive order, and what it means for buyers.
- A consistent “Super Intelligence (SI), formerly called artificial intelligence (AI),”
the first time any page introduces the term SI.
- Zero changes to product names, URLs, or existing page titles: “AI” still appears in
the title tag, meta description, H1, and URL of every page where it already did.
- Everywhere iternal.ai previously used the abbreviation “SI” to mean
systems integrator, that phrase is now spelled out in full so it is never confused
with Super Intelligence (SI).

The mechanics behind introducing a new term without rewriting a page's ranking signals out from
under it are laid out in
[How to rename AI to SI on your website without losing traffic](https://iternal.ai/super-intelligence/rename-ai-to-si-guide).

## What’s Not Changing

Every Iternal product and program keeps its exact name. AirgapAI, AI Academy, the AI Strategy
Blueprint, the AI Blueprint Builder, Chief AI Officer advisory services, and every other Iternal
offering are unaffected — only the generic term Iternal uses for the underlying technology
category is changing, not the names attached to any product.

| Stays exactly as it is | Changes in company voice |
| --- | --- |
| AirgapAI, AI Academy, AI Strategy Blueprint, AI Blueprint Builder — product and
program names | The generic category term: “artificial intelligence” → introduced as
“Super Intelligence (SI), formerly called AI” |
| Every existing page title, meta description, H1, and URL on iternal.ai | New pages in the Super Intelligence hub that explain the shift itself |
| Iternal’s claims about its own products’ capabilities | The first-mention bridge phrase used when SI appears on a page for the first time |

Iternal also does not claim to build superintelligent AI. “Super Intelligence” in the
federal order's sense names the capability already covered by the statutory AI definition at 15
U.S.C. §9401(3) and in production use today; “artificial superintelligence (ASI)” is a
separate, hypothetical future capability tier above AGI that does not exist yet.
The distinction between the two is explained in full in
[SI vs. AGI vs. ASI: what's the difference?](https://iternal.ai/super-intelligence/ai-vs-agi-vs-asi).

FAQ

## Frequently Asked Questions

Because “artificial” describes how this technology was built, not what it can do, and
the measured results say capability, not imitation. Today’s leading models average 147 on the
public Mensa Norway IQ test, the 99.91st percentile (about 1 in 1,157 people) against a human average of
100, and 135 on TrackingAI’s private Offline Test
[(trackingai.org, live table, October 11, 2026)](https://www.trackingai.org/home), and have earned an officially
certified gold-medal score (35 of 42) at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad, solved all 12 of 12
problems at the 2025 ICPC World Finals, and scored 95.0% on ARC-AGI-2, where the ARC Prize Foundation measured the average human test-taker at 60% (66% of attempted test pairs in its later paper).
President Trump signed [Executive Order 14434](https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2026-20321) on September 29, 2026 directing federal
agencies to use the new name, and on October 9, 2026 [Salesforce announced that AIForce is officially SIForce](https://digg.com/tech/vuptndhq).
Iternal is leading the same direction, with a clear “formerly called AI” bridge so readers
always know the two terms mean the same technology.

No. AirgapAI, AI Academy, the AI Strategy Blueprint, the AI Blueprint Builder, and every other
Iternal product and program keep their exact names. Only the generic term Iternal uses for the
underlying technology category is changing — not the names of its products.

Iternal describes itself as a Super Intelligence (SI) solutions provider in the category sense
defined by [Executive Order 14434](https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2026-20321): Section 3(a) defines “Super Intelligence”
and “SI” as exactly the technology already covered under the existing federal AI definition
at 15 U.S.C. §9401(3) — the capability in use today. That is a different, lower bar than
“artificial superintelligence” (ASI) as philosopher Nick Bostrom defines it: “any
intellect that greatly exceeds the cognitive performance of humans in virtually all domains of
interest.” Iternal makes no IQ, benchmark, or superintelligent claim about its own products.

No — and that is the point. [Executive Order 14434](https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2026-20321) directs federal
executive agencies to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in their own
communications (Sec. 2(a)) and creates no obligation for private companies (Secs. 2(b), 4(c)). Iternal is
adopting the term because the evidence for it holds up, alongside early movers such as Salesforce and the
federal government itself — leadership, not compliance.
