# AI to Super Intelligence (SI) for IT Leaders: Tracking the Rename Without Re-Integration

Your inventory row says “Salesforce AIForce (agent platform)” (Source: [Business Insider, via Yahoo Tech, Oct. 11, 2026](https://tech.yahoo.com/ai/articles/trumps-ai-rebrand-catching-elon-040201769.html)).
On October 9, Marc Benioff posted that AIForce is now SIForce. Nothing has reached your integration
team’s inbox. So: do you open a change ticket and re-certify the integration, or is this a
label swap that doesn’t touch anything your team is actually responsible for?

Usually the second one. **Super Intelligence (SI), formerly called artificial intelligence
(AI), is the name Executive Order 14434 directs federal agencies to use for the same technology the
statute already defines as AI.** (Source: [Executive Order 14434, Secs. 1 and 3(a)](https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2026-20321))
Some companies have started echoing it in their own marketing, and a release note that says
“SI” does not, by itself, mean a product, API, or price changed. This page gives IT
leaders a short, repeatable way to tell the two apart.

Where This Is Coming From

## Why Some Product Names Are Starting to Drift

Executive Order 14434, signed September 29, 2026, directs federal executive agencies — and only
federal executive agencies — to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in
place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in their own official
communications (Source: [Executive Order 14434, Secs. 1 and 2(a), via the Federal Register](https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2026-20321)).
It has no legal reach into a private company’s product naming. Even so, market leaders are
already moving on their own: on October 9, 2026, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff posted,
“The era of Super Intelligence is here. AIForce is officially SIForce.” (Source: [Business Insider, via Yahoo Tech, Oct. 11, 2026](https://tech.yahoo.com/ai/articles/trumps-ai-rebrand-catching-elon-040201769.html)).
Five days earlier, on October 4, Elon Musk pledged to rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI — “Yes,
we will make that change” — with no stated timeline (Source: [Reuters via The Star (Malaysia), Oct. 5, 2026](https://www.thestar.com.my/tech/tech-news/2026/10/05/musk-says-he-will-rename-spacexai-to-spacexsi));
as of October 11, 2026, that change had not yet been carried out.

OpenAI has said it has “no plans” to rename (Source: [CNN, Zachary B. Wolf, via Yahoo News, Oct. 11, 2026](https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/trump-really-wants-super-intelligence-160044063.html)).
The six technology leaders who signed the September 29, 2026 “White House Accord on Super
Intelligence: Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities” — Sundar Pichai (Google),
Dario Amodei (Anthropic), Mark Zuckerberg (Meta), Greg Brockman (OpenAI), Jensen Huang (Nvidia) and
Elon Musk — put the new term in the accord’s title; the accord itself is a voluntary
safety commitment, not a product rename (Source: [MercoPress, Sept. 30, 2026](https://en.mercopress.com/2026/09/30/trump-and-six-tech-companies-sign-a-voluntary-artificial-intelligence-safety-accord)).
As of October 11, 2026, Musk’s pledge is the only product-rename announcement among the
signatories.
For an IT tooling inventory, each early mover arrives as a dated, named event: log it in one row
when it lands, and the label change itself needs no re-integration.

The teams closest to the code give Iternal its clearest reason to back the name.
In a study of 4,867 developers at Microsoft, Accenture, and a Fortune 100 electronics manufacturer,
completed weekly tasks rose 26.08% among developers using AI coding
assistance (Source: [Cui, Demirer, Jaffe, Musolff, Peng & Salz, Management Science, 2026-02-27](https://doi.org/10.1287/mnsc.2025.00535)),
and in a controlled trial of 95 professional developers building an HTTP server, those using
GitHub Copilot finished 55.8% faster than the control group (Source: [Peng, Kalliamvakou, Cihon & Demirer, arXiv:2302.06590, 2023-02-13](https://arxiv.org/abs/2302.06590)).
On the same 500 SWE-bench Verified software-engineering tasks, the top model score has climbed
from 33.2% (GPT-4o) (Source: [OpenAI, Aug. 13, 2024](https://openai.com/index/introducing-swe-bench-verified/))
to 97.00% (Claude Opus 5) (Source: [Vals.ai SWE-bench Verified leaderboard, accessed Oct. 11, 2026](https://www.vals.ai/benchmarks/swebench))
between August 2024 and October 2026 — gains that make “Super Intelligence” a
description of delivered engineering output, not a marketing flourish. For more information visit the

A Precedent IT Teams Already Know

## The Entra ID Precedent, Applied

IT teams have handled exactly this kind of rename before — Microsoft walked customers through
it when Azure Active Directory became Microsoft Entra ID. Microsoft’s own, still-live migration
guide tells customers not to mass-replace the old name: “Don’t replace all instances with
Microsoft Entra ID… Review whether each instance refers to the product or a feature of the
product” (Source: [Microsoft Learn, “How to rename Azure Active Directory (Azure AD)”](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/fundamentals/how-to-rename-azure-ad)).
It draws a sharp product-vs-feature line — “Don’t change instances of Active
Directory. Only Azure Active Directory is being renamed, not Active Directory, which is the shortened
name of a different product, Windows Server Active Directory” (Source: [Microsoft Learn, same page](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/fundamentals/how-to-rename-azure-ad))
— and it directly supports a “formerly” naming bridge for exactly this kind of
rename: “Add ‘Azure Active Directory is now Microsoft Entra ID’ or follow the new
name with ‘formerly Azure Active Directory’ for the first year.”

Translated into four actions for a software-asset inventory:

1. Don’t mass-edit internal docs or runbooks on a label change alone. A renamed
marketing term is not, by itself, a reason to rewrite your knowledge base, change-management
records, or integration runbooks.
1. Check the software provider’s actual changelog for an API or endpoint change
— not just a UI label or a CEO’s social post. The rename announcement and a technical
change are two different events, and only one of them is your problem.
1. Keep the old term searchable in your internal knowledge base. Microsoft’s own
guidance explicitly says it is “okay to not rename old content” — a disclaimer
line is enough.
1. Log one tracking row per renamed product instead of treating it as a document-wide
hunt. Microsoft’s own migration workflow is scan content, compile a list of every instance,
identify exceptions, then review each one on its own merits — find every instance, then review
each one; don’t blindly replace all of them. Microsoft still expects customer-facing content
to catch up to the new name over time; it just doesn’t want that done with a single global
find-and-replace.

Tracking Template

## A Rename-Tracking Template, Not a Document-Wide Hunt

Six columns are enough: company, old name, new name, date, whether the API or SDK changed, and the
action needed. Benioff’s post announced the name only; coverage of it describes no change to
features, pricing, or availability (Source: [Business Insider, via Yahoo Tech, Oct. 11, 2026](https://tech.yahoo.com/ai/articles/trumps-ai-rebrand-catching-elon-040201769.html)),
and no Salesforce developer-documentation page using the term “SIForce” has surfaced as of
this writing — so the accurate entry in that column is “not confirmed either way,” not
a guess in either direction. The same caution applies to SpaceX’s announced SpaceXAI→SpaceXSI
change.

| Company | Old name | New name | Date | API/SDK changed? | Action needed |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Salesforce | AIForce | SIForce | 2026-10-09 | Not confirmed either way | Monitor developer docs; no inventory edit yet |
| SpaceX | SpaceXAI | SpaceXSI | 2026-10-04 (announced) | Not confirmed; no product-page change found | Monitor; no action required |
| Google (historical contrast) | AdWords / AdWordsApp | Google Ads / AdsApp | 2018-11 (scripts); 2022-04-27 (API sunset) | Confirmed — script objects renamed in 2018 | Historical model: real API renames are dated, versioned & documented |
| Iternal | AirgapAI, AI Academy, AI Assist | Unchanged (as of 2026-10-11) | — | No | No action — Iternal’s product names are unchanged |

One row shows what a real API rename looks like: when AdWords became Google Ads in July 2018, the
developer-facing script objects `AdWordsApp` and `MccApp` were renamed to
`AdsApp` and `AdsManagerApp` a few months later, in November
2018 (Source: [Google Ads Developer Blog, Nov. 2018](https://ads-developers.googleblog.com/2018/11/adwords-scripts-is-now-google-ads.html))
— a real, confirmed API-facing change, unlike the Entra ID case. That is the contrast the
“API/SDK changed?” column exists to catch: don’t assume “no,” and
don’t assume “yes” — check the provider’s own developer channel for each
row before you write an answer in that column.

Iternal’s own row reads “no action”: as of October 11, 2026, AirgapAI, AI Academy, AI
Assist, Chief AI Officer/CAIO, and Turnkey AI keep their current names. If your organization runs Iternal software, that line item does not change today, and any future change would arrive as its own dated row.

The Actual Risk Surface

## What Actually Breaks vs. What Doesn’t

A marketing-label rename alone breaks nothing technical. Microsoft said this explicitly when Azure AD
became Microsoft Entra ID: “All existing deployments, configurations, and integrations continue
to function as they do today without any action from you,” and “all existing login URLs,
APIs, PowerShell cmdlets, and Microsoft Authentication Libraries (MSAL) stay the same, as do developer
experiences and tooling” (Source: [Microsoft Learn, “New name for Azure Active Directory”](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/fundamentals/new-name)).
One API-gateway blog made a similar point about the SI rename generally — “model IDs,
environment variables and API paths are contracts” that a naming directive does not
touch (Source: [LLM Gateway blog, Oct. 4, 2026](https://llmgateway.io/blog/si-gateway)). Take that
as informed industry commentary, not as a guarantee from any specific software provider about its own
product.

The real risk category is a genuine API or SDK rename — and the historical pattern is that it
is rarer, dated, versioned, and always documented in a developer channel, not announced only through
a CEO’s social post. When AdWords became Google Ads in July 2018, the developer-facing script
objects were renamed a few months later, in November 2018 (Source: [Google Ads Developer Blog, Nov. 2018](https://ads-developers.googleblog.com/2018/11/adwords-scripts-is-now-google-ads.html)),
but the AdWords API itself kept running for about three and a half more years, retired only on April
27, 2022, after a new, versioned Ads API had run in parallel for about a
year (Source: [Optmyzr, “The New Google Ads API vs. the Old Google AdWords API”](https://www.optmyzr.com/blog/google-api-change-wordstream/)).
That is the shape a real rename takes: a multi-year, communicated migration window, not a weekend
surprise.

Software-asset-management tooling already has a mechanism built for exactly this kind of problem.
ServiceNow’s Software Asset Management content service runs “normalization” —
reconciling discovered publisher and product strings against a maintained recognition
library (Source: [ServiceNow, Software Asset Management Content Service documentation](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/r/I6yJl~rEaUqcde_ZxOUBMw/e0vhjSXeKoKSByi6SnMxKw)).
No source confirms that library has an AI→SI-specific update yet, but the practice is the same
one recommended here: reconcile renamed products against a maintained list, rather than treating
every mention of “AI” in your own documentation as something that needs to change.

FAQ

## FAQ: Super Intelligence (SI) for IT Leaders

Not urgently, and not by mass-editing. Log one tracking row for the renamed product (old name, new name, date), check the provider's own developer changelog for an actual API or SDK change, and leave the rest of your inventory and runbooks as written until you find one.

Not confirmed either way as of this writing. Benioff's October 9, 2026 post announced the name only; coverage of it describes no change to features, availability, or pricing, and no Salesforce developer-documentation page using "SIForce" has surfaced. Treat it as a monitoring item, not a confirmed integration break.

Microsoft's own guidance says to find every instance of the old name, then review each one rather than blindly replacing all of them, to check a published exceptions list, to leave unrelated products (like Windows Server Active Directory) alone, and to use a "formerly Azure Active Directory" bridge for the first year. That same find-and-review approach, applied one renamed product at a time, is a reasonable model for any software provider's AI-to-SI rename.

Not as of October 11, 2026. AirgapAI, AI Academy, AI Assist, Chief AI Officer/CAIO, and Turnkey AI keep their current names, so the Iternal line item in your tracking template reads "no action." Any future change would be announced with its own date, and you would log it as a new row.

Check the software provider's own developer-facing changelog, not a press release or a social post. Real API renames are dated, versioned, and documented there — when AdWords became Google Ads in July 2018, the developer-facing script objects were renamed a few months later, in November 2018, while the underlying API itself ran for about three and a half more years before its documented, versioned sunset on April 27, 2022. A label-only rename produces no equivalent developer-channel entry.

No. Microsoft's own Entra ID guidance says explicitly that it's "okay to not rename old content," and advises against replacing every instance of an old name. Keep "AI" searchable in your knowledge base, and only touch documentation tied to a tracking-template row where you've confirmed an actual product or API change.

## Track the Rename, Don’t Re-Certify the Integration

A federal naming directive does not touch your SaaS contracts, your API credentials, or your
change-management process. Keep one tracking row per renamed product, check the real developer
changelog before you open a ticket, and save the re-certification work for the rare case where a
provider's API, not just its marketing, actually changed.
