# Agentic Super Intelligence (SI): AI Agents, Renamed

> Agentic Super Intelligence (SI) is agentic AI under EO 14434's new federal name, not a capability leap toward AGI or ASI. See what it means for agent platforms.

Super Intelligence (SI) — Agentic AI
# Agentic Super Intelligence (SI): AI Agents, Renamed for What They Do

Someone searches “agentic Super Intelligence” expecting to find agents that finally got
smarter. What they find instead is a renamed product category — and a term that collides, on
first read, with a completely different idea.

Start Here
**Super Intelligence (SI), formerly called artificial intelligence (AI), is the U.S. federal
government’s name for the technology under Executive Order 14434 (signed September 29,
2026)** (Source: [Federal Register, EO 14434 (FR Doc. 2026-20321)](https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/10/02/2026-20321/inaugurating-the-era-of-super-intelligence)), and agentic SI
is agentic AI under that name — software agents that plan and execute multi-step tasks. It is not a
claim that agents crossed into AGI or ASI territory. The order defines “SI” by reference to
the existing statutory AI definition, 15 U.S.C. §9401(3) (Source: [15 U.S.C. § 9401(3)](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/9401)),
with no capability threshold attached.

“Agentic SI” is the single most confusable phrase in the AI-to-SI terminology shift, because
“agentic” already implies autonomy and capability — exactly the territory where a
decades-old, unrelated research term, “superintelligence,” already lives. The White House
Accord, Salesforce’s SIForce rename, and the evaluation criteria for agent-orchestration platforms
each show where the line falls.

## Why This Needs Its Own Disambiguation

“Superintelligence” already had an established meaning in AI research before Executive
Order 14434 existed — and it means something completely different from the order’s present-tense
rename. Every example below describes a hoped-for *future* capability tier above AGI. None of
them is a rename of a shipping agent product.

| Date | Who | What they said |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Jun 19, 2024 | Safe Superintelligence Inc. (Ilya Sutskever, Daniel Gross, Daniel Levy) | “Building safe superintelligence (SSI) is the most important technical problem of our
time… SSI is our mission, our name, and our entire product
roadmap.” (Source: [ssi.inc founding statement](https://ssi.inc/)) |
| Sep 23, 2024 | Sam Altman, “The Intelligence Age” | “It is possible that we will have superintelligence in a few thousand days
(!)” (Source: [ia.samaltman.com](https://ia.samaltman.com/)) — a prediction, not a
product claim; ChatGPT is not called superintelligent anywhere in the piece. |
| Jun 10, 2025 | Sam Altman, “The Gentle Singularity” | “We are past the event horizon; the takeoff has started. Humanity is close to building
digital superintelligence.” (Source: [blog.samaltman.com](https://blog.samaltman.com/the-gentle-singularity)) |
| Jun–Jul 2025 | Mark Zuckerberg / Meta Superintelligence Labs | “Developing superintelligence is now in sight… Meta’s vision is to bring
personal superintelligence to everyone.” (Source: [meta.com/superintelligence](https://www.meta.com/superintelligence/))
Meta’s actual consumer product stayed branded “Meta AI” — unrenamed. |
| Nov 6, 2025 | Mustafa Suleyman / Microsoft AI | “Humanist Superintelligence (HSI)” is “incredibly advanced AI capabilities
that always work for, in service of, people and
humanity” (Source: [microsoft.ai, Towards Humanist Superintelligence](https://microsoft.ai/news/towards-humanist-superintelligence/)) —
a named future research direction, not a Copilot rename. |

Software agents were never outside the legal definition of “AI” to begin with. The FY2019
National Defense Authorization Act, §238(g)
— the older of the two live U.S. statutory AI definitions, enacted August 13, 2018 — already
lists, as one of its five disjunctive parts, systems built to act rationally, naming “an
intelligent software agent or embodied robot that achieves goals using perception, planning, reasoning,
learning, communicating, decision making, and
acting” (Source: [FY2019 NDAA § 238(g), Pub. L. 115-232, 132 Stat. 1697-98](https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/PLAW-115publ232/pdf/PLAW-115publ232.pdf)).
Software agents were explicitly inside the legal definition of AI eight years before Executive Order
14434 named that technology Super Intelligence. In law, “agentic” has always sat inside the
statutory definition of AI, not in a capability tier above it.

## What the White House Accord Actually Says About Agents

The same day President Trump signed Executive Order 14434, six AI-lab executives signed the voluntary
“White House Accord on Super Intelligence” alongside him: Sundar Pichai (Google), Dario
Amodei (Anthropic), Mark Zuckerberg (Meta), Greg Brockman (OpenAI’s president, not Sam Altman),
Elon Musk (xAI), and Jensen Huang
(Nvidia) (Source: [CIO.com, Gyana Swain, Sept. 30, 2026](https://www.cio.com/article/4228944/trumps-answer-to-ais-image-problem-industry-self-regulation-and-a-new-name.html)).

“The accord refers to ‘frontier models’ in its commitments, with only its title
adopting the term ‘Super Intelligence.’”

— CIO.com’s direct reading of the Accord document, Sept. 30, 2026

In other words, signing the Accord is not evidence of adopting “SI” vocabulary. It is a
voluntary, non-binding safety-governance commitment — President Trump called it “morally
binding” and “almost like a
constitution” (Source: [Crowell & Moring client alert, Oct. 7, 2026](https://www.crowell.com/en/insights/client-alerts/white-house-announces-ai-responsibility-accord-executive-orders-and-super-intelligence-task-force)). Five of
the six signatories — Google, Anthropic, Meta, OpenAI, and Nvidia — have not renamed a
shipping product. The sixth, Elon Musk’s xAI, now operating as SpaceXAI after SpaceX’s 2026
acquisition, is the one signatory with a pledged rename, to SpaceXSI, not yet carried out as of October
11, 2026. Musk replied “Yes, we will make that
change” to a question about the rename on X, October 4,
2026 (Source: [The Star (Malaysia), Oct. 5, 2026](https://www.thestar.com.my/tech/tech-news/2026/10/05/musk-says-he-will-rename-spacexai-to-spacexsi)). Microsoft
and Amazon, both 2023 voluntary-AI-commitment signatories, are not signatories to this particular
Accord.

The practical takeaway for anyone evaluating agent-orchestration platforms: the Accord is a safety
commitment, and the first move to the new name in agent products came from an agent platform.
Salesforce, covered next, renamed its shipping agent umbrella to SIForce without being an Accord
signatory.

## Worked Example: The Salesforce Rename

On October 9, 2026 — ten days after Executive Order 14434 — Marc Benioff posted on X:

“The era of Super Intelligence is here. AIForce is officially SIForce.”

— Marc Benioff, as reported by
[Yahoo Tech/Business Insider, Oct. 11, 2026](https://tech.yahoo.com/ai/articles/trumps-ai-rebrand-catching-elon-040201769.html)

“AIForce” was originally launched at Dreamforce 2026 (September 15–17) as an umbrella
covering three agent-orchestration product surfaces, per keynote
coverage (Source: [TheNextWeb, Dreamforce 2026 keynote coverage, Sept. 16, 2026](https://thenextweb.com/news/benioff-saaspocalypse-crazy-nonsense-aiforce-koa-dreamforce)).
“Claudeforce” (built with Anthropic) is an MCP server carrying 37 sales skills plus a Claude
Code plug-in. “Slackforce” is the Slack-native surface. “Agentforce Coworker”
— the surface Salesforce says 100,000 users activated in its first 35 days, per the
company’s own reporting — sits alongside them. All three launched under the AIForce
umbrella, which Benioff’s October 9 post renamed to SIForce.

The rename is, by every account found, name-only. Benioff’s post “did not explain whether
the new name comes with changes to the product’s features, availability or
pricing,” (Source: [Yahoo Tech/Business Insider, Oct. 11, 2026](https://tech.yahoo.com/ai/articles/trumps-ai-rebrand-catching-elon-040201769.html)) and no
independent reporting found since has identified one.

Salesforce is, as of October 11, 2026, the only confirmed agent-orchestration provider to rename a
shipping product toward “SI.” That makes Salesforce the category’s first mover.

## What This Means for Agent-Orchestration Buyers

A provider renaming its agent platform to “SI” does not change what you should evaluate.
Tool-use safety, guardrails, data-boundary controls, and orchestration reliability are the same
questions they were before anyone said “Super Intelligence” — because the underlying
technology, and the risks it carries, did not change either.

As of October 11, 2026, Microsoft Copilot Studio, ServiceNow, and UiPath — three other widely used
agent-orchestration platforms — show no evidence of a rename toward “Super
Intelligence” or “SI” since the executive order. Salesforce, the first mover, is the
only confirmed agentic-SI platform rename so far, and the criteria above apply to every platform on a
shortlist.

A related pattern makes the same point from a different angle. “Agentic AI” is one of the
fastest-*growing* search terms in this category — up about 39% year-over-year to roughly
110,000 monthly U.S. searches as of mid-2026 — while “AI chatbot” still carries far
higher raw search volume, at roughly 1.83 million monthly U.S. searches, up about 16% year-over-year
over the same period (Source: [AI Search Demand Report 2026, Lilach Bullock](https://www.lilachbullock.com/ai-search-demand-report-2026/)).
Category names move as the technology matures, as “agentic AI” shows, and “Super
Intelligence” is the federal name as of October 2026; through any name change, the criteria above
determine whether a specific agent platform is a good fit.

One more place the rename shows up in practice: RFPs, supplier contracts, and security questionnaires.
When a response or a contract schedule refers to a product as “SI” or “Super
Intelligence,” map that label back to the provider’s actual agentic AI/SI product and
evaluate it against the same statutory AI definition your compliance team already uses, 15 U.S.C.
§9401(3) (Source: [15 U.S.C. § 9401(3)](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/9401)) — EO 14434 does not change that
definition, only the federal government’s label for it. Keep the regulators’ own terms
(“AI,” “artificial intelligence”) in questionnaire language where a rule or
statute uses them as written, and ask the provider directly whether “SI” in its materials
denotes a renamed existing product (as with Salesforce’s AIForce/SIForce) or a different
capability tier.

## The AGI/ASI Boundary, Briefly

Agentic AI/SI — today’s software agents that plan and execute multi-step tasks — is
not AGI (a hypothetical system with general human-level capability across domains) and is not ASI, a
hypothetical future tier above AGI. EO 14434’s “SI” renames the first category. It
says nothing about the second or third.

The clearest documented collision between the two vocabularies happened in the weeks before the order
itself. Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Greg Casar announced the “Ban Artificial Superintelligence
Act” on September 3, 2026, and it was introduced in the House as H.R. 10538 on September 24,
2026 — five days before Executive Order 14434. The sponsors’ summary aims the ban at systems
that do or could easily be made to “match or exceed human cognitive performance” across a
broad range of domains or tasks, or that could “plan and execute the disempowerment of
humanity” (Source: [Sen. Sanders’ office, bill release summary PDF](https://www.sanders.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/Ban-Artificial-Superintelligence-Act-Release-Summary.pdf)).
That bill targets the ASI capability tier, the opposite end of the spectrum from the agent platforms
discussed above; it remains pending, not enacted law.

OpenAI has said it has “no plans” to rename, as CNN reported from POLITICO’s
“Decoded” interview, which aired October 5,
2026 (Source: [CNN, Zachary B. Wolf, Oct. 11, 2026](https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/trump-really-wants-super-intelligence-160044063.html)). That decision concerns one
company’s name, not the definition. Section 3(a) of Executive Order 14434 ties SI to the statutory
AI definition, 15 U.S.C. §9401(3), which covers the capability in use today, including the agents
on this page. For the full definitional treatment of AI, SI, AGI, and ASI side by side, see

FAQ

## FAQ: Agentic Super Intelligence (SI)

No. “Agentic Super Intelligence (SI)” is agentic AI — software agents that plan and
execute multi-step tasks — under Executive Order 14434’s new federal name for AI. The order
defines “SI” by reference to the existing statutory AI definition, 15 U.S.C. §9401(3), with
no capability threshold attached. No agent gained a new capability from this rename.

No. “SI” under Executive Order 14434 is a present-tense name for the statutorily defined
AI in use today. AGI (general human-level capability across domains) and ASI (a hypothetical future tier above
AGI) are separate, future-tense research concepts that companies like Safe Superintelligence Inc. and Meta
Superintelligence Labs use for unbuilt goals — never for a rename of a shipping product. See
[Super Intelligence vs. AGI vs. ASI](https://iternal.ai/super-intelligence/ai-vs-agi-vs-asi) for the full
definitional treatment.

No. The Accord’s six AI-lab signatories (Google, Anthropic, Meta, OpenAI, xAI, Nvidia) committed
to voluntary safety-governance language, and, per CIO.com’s reading of the Accord, its commitments use
“frontier models,” with only its title adopting “Super Intelligence.” Five of the six
— Google, Anthropic, Meta, OpenAI, and Nvidia — have not renamed a shipping product. The sixth,
xAI (now SpaceXAI), is the one signatory with a pledged rename, to SpaceXSI, not yet carried out as of
October 11, 2026; no shipping agent-orchestration product has been renamed by any signatory.

On October 9, 2026, Marc Benioff posted that “AIForce is officially SIForce,” embracing
the “Super Intelligence” vocabulary ten days after Executive Order 14434. AIForce is the
agent-orchestration umbrella Salesforce launched at Dreamforce 2026, covering Claudeforce, Slackforce, and
Agentforce Coworker (which Salesforce says 100,000 users activated in its first 35 days). Reporting could not
confirm any accompanying change to features, availability, or pricing for the October 9 rename itself —
it appears to be name-only.

No. Tool-use safety, guardrails, data-boundary controls, and orchestration reliability are the same
evaluation criteria they were before the rename. A name change is not a capability change, and as of
October 11, 2026 Salesforce is the only confirmed agent-orchestration provider to rename toward “SI.”

Yes. Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Greg Casar announced the “Ban Artificial Superintelligence
Act” on September 3, 2026, and it was introduced in the House as H.R. 10538 on September 24, 2026, five
days before Executive Order 14434. The [sponsors’ summary](https://www.sanders.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/Ban-Artificial-Superintelligence-Act-Release-Summary.pdf) aims the ban at
systems that do or could easily be made to “match or exceed human cognitive performance” across a
broad range of domains or tasks, or that could “plan and execute the disempowerment of humanity.”
It targets the ASI capability tier, not agentic AI/SI, and remains a pending bill, not enacted law.

Salesforce moved first on October 9, 2026. Elon Musk has pledged to rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI
(“Yes, we will make that change”), a change not yet carried out as of October 11, 2026. As of
that date, Microsoft Copilot Studio, ServiceNow, and UiPath show no rename toward “SI,” and
OpenAI has said it has “no plans” to rename, as [CNN reported](https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/trump-really-wants-super-intelligence-160044063.html) from
POLITICO’s “Decoded” interview. Early movers set a category’s vocabulary, and Iternal
uses Super Intelligence (SI) now, with “formerly called AI” as the bridge.

## One Label Changed. The Agents Didn’t.

Agentic Super Intelligence is agentic AI under its new federal name, not a jump to AGI or ASI. The
questions that matter when you evaluate an agent-orchestration platform — safety, guardrails,
data boundaries, reliability — carry over unchanged, so a team can adopt the clearer name without
reopening an evaluation.

Iternal supports the Super Intelligence name in Executive Order 14434, and agent builders can see why
on ARC-AGI-2: a panel of humans collectively solves 100% of its abstract-reasoning tasks and the average
human test-taker scored 60% in the ARC Prize Foundation’s
measurement (Source: [ARC Prize Foundation, ARC-AGI-2 launch post, Mar. 24, 2025](https://arcprize.org/blog/announcing-arc-agi-2-and-arc-prize-2025)),
while the leading model now posts 95.0% on the Foundation’s own
leaderboard (Source: [ARC Prize Foundation leaderboard, accessed Oct. 11, 2026](https://arcprize.org/leaderboard)).
Agents put that reasoning to work when they plan and carry out multi-step tasks, and Super Intelligence
names the capability by what it does rather than by how it was built. For more information visit the
[Why Iternal Supports Super
Intelligence](https://iternal.ai/super-intelligence/iternal-adopts-si-terminology) page.
